A Minor Setback

Everyone-

I was recently downsized, laid-off, shitcanned, fired...use your term of choice.

My favorite euphemism is "I am no longer encumbered by employment."

The job concluded amicably, and I'm not too ticked off about the whole thing. However, I do find myself, once again, in the uncomfortable position of trying to find work. Ugh.

Hopefully the next one will be more up my alley.

Many thanks to everyone who checked out the blog that I wrote for my company, not to mention everyone who's been so supportive all along.

I'll keep you posted as the job search continues.

  • The word of the day for me is "resume."

I hate looking for work. Hi, I'm M@. Please give me a job!

I hate it primarily because I am not a self-starter. Nor am I a team player. And I sure as shit don't want a "roll up your sleeves and get dirty editing job."

  • Nature abhors a vacuum so there has to be a vacancy for that much better job to come into your life. And it will. You have so much to offer that you should have no trouble finding something wonderful, even though the search does truly suck.

Good luck, Crankster. Remember, your prospective employers would be lucky to have you, so be sure that YOU like THEM. The interview goes both ways.

  • I guess I should get off my dead ass, move to NYC, start a business and hire you already. What business are we going to be in?

  • I hate jobhunting luckily firing someone over here is a very long hard prosess. you have to be given three writen warnings and each warning expires in three months then when they finally do fire you you can protest or sue

  • Nothing lasts forever. Not even unemployment. Change is the thing. Besides, you're always employed--changing, that is, giving up one idea of yourself for another, from one that is unemployed to one that is.

You've got a lot of support here.

  • M@-
I don't mind being a self-starter and I can deal with being a team player, and I actually like rolling up my sleeves.

It's the hiring process that I can do without!

    Hearts-
Thank you for the sense of perspective, but right now I'd just kill for an interview!

    Reflecting Pool-
I appreciate the warm wishes. I am currently looking into organ donation.

    Joke!

    I know I'll find something!

    Mystic Wing-
I'll definitely keep you posted. I'm sure to find something.

    I hope.

    CEO-
Right now, I'm trying to find something in publishing. However, I think there's a spot open in assassinations.

    Just saying.

    Jamiesmitten-
Thanks for the warm wishes. I'm sure there's something out there for me!

    Claudia-
    I feel your pain.

    Nosjunkie-
If I'm to be truly honest, I have to admit that I'm not entirely sad about being fired. I wasn't a good fit at the place, and I really don't want to spend the rest of my life doing the kid of work that I was doing.

    Puss-
You're my hero(ine). You know why!

    Odat-
You always brighten my mood. Thanks!

    Jude-
I'll find the right job yet.

    Domino-
Thanks for the support--and for commenting. It's reassuring to see how many friends I have!

    Franki-
    Gotta spare?
